Indeed, women\u2019s rights and <strong>climate change<\/strong> are interlinked: when women\u2019s rights are not protected, more women than men die from disasters, most of which, these days, are climate related.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EWL points out that while many women are present in ecological and <strong>environmental movements<\/strong>, they are largely absent from decision-making in this sector, including at the governmental level. For women in Europe, it is also a question of <strong>solidarity<\/strong> with all women on the planet, who already have to live with the consequences of climate change.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">What does the EWL call for?<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"spip\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Ensure the right of all <strong>women and girls to be heard <\/strong>on environmental issues in their regions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Systematically include a<strong> women\u2019s rights and gender equality perspective<\/strong> in the definition, implementation and monitoring of environmental \/ climate \/ transport \/ energy policies at all levels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Secure <strong>women\u2019s political participation in environmental and climate change work<\/strong>, at all levels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Assess, disseminate and raise awareness on the <strong>impacts of environmental policies<\/strong> on women, by both public policies and the private industry.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Take action towards <strong>women\u2019s higher enrolment in science and technology-related fields of education<\/strong>, and women\u2019s entrepreneurship in agriculture, renewable energies, environment, protection and tourism, and enhance their contribution to innovation, quality of life and preservation of land, environment and culture.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Speed up the elaboration of an <strong>environment strategy <\/strong>based on biodiversity, sustainable development, quality of life and wellbeing, from an intergenerational and gender equality perspective.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2476,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_crsspst_to_hw54cbngfnpreviewinfomaniakwebsite":false,"_crsspst_to_diversite-europeeu":false,"_crsspst_to_ess-europeeu":false},"countries":[65],"thematics":[96,102,101],"class_list":["post-2475","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","countries-unioneuropenne","thematics-dveloppementdurable","thematics-environnement","thematics-ressourcesnergtiques"],"acf":{"content_resume":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In June, to celebrate World Environment Day, the European Women\u2019s Lobby (EWL) focuses on Women and the Environment, as part of its Beijing+20 campaign.
