A Transition-oriented Enterprise (TEs) <\/strong>is not led by the goal of maximising profits, it is an enterprise integrated within the community and which makes the commitment to contribute to the resilience <\/strong>of thecommunity.<\/p>\n

Its main objective is to provide the goods and services that the community needs, in order to secure its autonomy. The concept of resilience can also apply to enterprises since the best way to be viable is to remain financially independent <\/strong>from external actors.<\/p>\n

Positive environmental impacts<\/h2>\n

In a world with limited natural ressources, TEs try to have an adequate use of ressources. Recycling, using wastes <\/strong>as raw materials is at the core of their philosophy.<\/p>\n

Moreover, renewable ressources<\/strong> are favored over fossil fuels which threaten the survival of our ecosystem. Appropriate localisation<\/strong> is sought to stay close to local people and to limite the environmental damages created by fossil fuels-intensive modes of transport. Therefore, environmental criteria are taken into account in any decision.<\/p>\n

The individual first before profits<\/h2>\n

TEs also contribute to maintain a sustainable economy <\/strong>and society and preserve decent livelihoods. Human capital is at the center of their activity. They try to encourage democratic practices<\/strong>, empower workers and be accountable. Collaborative approaches are always favored.<\/p>\n
