Conference “European Circular Economy. What next in the transition to a resource efficient Europe?”

The take-make-consume and dispose (linear) economic model is no longer a viable option for Europe. Population growth and increasing pressure on resources requires urgent, cross-sector action to make the transition to more sustainable pathways.

The so-called Circular Economy, perhaps for the first time, encapsulates a broad strategy that seeks to integrate and give focus to policy frameworks and practical steps linking job creation with resource efficiency and green-growth.

Following the Commission’s July 2014 communication titled Towards a circular economy: A zero waste programme for Europe and at the start of a new 5-ye ar cycle in European policy making, this conference will debate many of the key issues surrounding the proposed shift to a circular economy in Europe.
